The Role
The Investment Operations Manager is to complete the reconciliation and ongoing management of the unit price process. Reporting into the Senior Manager, Investment Operations, this permanent full-time role will lead the investment operations across a complex investment structure, ensuring effective asset management, seamless execution of asset transfers, and strategic portfolio rebalancing to optimise investment performance. This includes overseeing the accurate completion of unit pricing checks and accounting treatment impacting unit prices in addition to maintaining appropriate relationships with external accountants, custodians, auditor and service providers. Additionally, this role will be responsible for external audit management, valuation assurance testing, tax compliance and accruals management.
Key focus areas include:
Manage and ensure accuracy in daily unit pricing, expense reconciliations, and accrual management.
Oversee asset transfers, cash-flow management, and strategic portfolio rebalancing.
Act as the primary custodian contact for fund tax reporting, effective tax rate setting, and franking credit rate management.
Implement investment decisions, including onboarding new investments, setting up custody accounts, and transitioning investment managers.
Provide advisory support across the business on unit pricing structures, valuation assurance testing, investment accounting, and related queries.
Lead custodian relationship management, including performance monitoring and regular meetings.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and automation in investment processes.
Ensure robust data governance, including quality testing and stewardship of investment data.
You have
Qualifications at an appropriate level in a relevant discipline (e.g. B.Acc, B.Com, B Econ etc.) or a proven track record of achievement in the area.
10+ years’ relevant experience in investment operations or related roles
Strong understanding of superannuation industry regulations, investment operations, and compliance requirements
Demonstrated commitment to achieving the needs of members and employers.
Demonstrated expertise in interpreting financial and economic data.
Proven ability in managing outsourced provider relationships and meeting agreed service standards
Desirable
Experience in complex superannuation or investment portfolios.
Experience in mentoring & coaching junior team members.
Tax qualification (e.g. Master of Taxation), investment qualifications (e.g. CFA, CIPM, Masters in Finance) and/or demonstrated experience in direct tax, quantitative analysis or investment management.
Knowledge and experience of fund accounting principles, management of risk and compliance in the superannuation industry including CPA, CA or similar qualifications.
