Description:
Palermo is a gem of Melbourne's restaurant scene, and undoubtedly one of Australia's finest Argentinian restaurants. Sitting on little bourke st in the heart of Melbourne, our prime location means its easy to get to, and easy to get home with multiple transport options around.
In the Casual Kitchen Hand role, your day-to-day will involve:
Supporting chefs with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen, including dishwashing and equipment cleaning.
Assisting with stock handling, deliveries, and restocking fridges or shelves.
Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment as part of a supportive team.
Taking direction from senior chefs and contributing to smooth service flow.
Skills and Experiences:
Think you’ve got what it takes?
The ideal candidate will have:
Availability for 20 hours per week on a consistent basis, including weekends where needed. Tuesday Morning and Thursday Morning a must
Full working rights in Australia - Citizen / PR status; or at least 2+ years remaining on a temporary visa.
Some Kitchen Hand experience in a professional kitchen (preferred but not essential).
A strong understanding of basic food handling, hygiene, and safe kitchen practices, or a willingness to learn quickly.
Ability to complete tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, cleaning, and restocking efficiently and to a high standard.
Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well in a team.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail to ensure the kitchen remains clean, safe, and well-organised.
