Kitchen Manager (Back Of House)

Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager (Back of House) is responsible for leading all kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, food safety, and team performance. This role coaches and develops kitchen leaders and team members while maintaining operational excellence and Chick-fil-A standards.


Schedule:
Flexible schedule required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work Saturdays.


Essential Job Functions

  • Lead all back-of-house operations during assigned shifts
  • Ensure food quality, recipe accuracy, speed, and consistency
  • Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members and leaders
  • Manage labor, productivity, and kitchen staffing plans
  • Maintain inventory levels, ordering, food cost control, and waste tracking
  • Oversee equipment use, maintenance, and safety procedures
  • Partner with Front of House leadership to ensure smooth service flow
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement
  • Support opening, transition, and closing procedures


Leadership Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong leadership by setting the example in attitude, work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Support team members during busy shifts while maintaining a calm and positive presence.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with kitchen staff, front-of-house leaders, and upper management.
  • Foster open communication so team members feel comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas.
  • Maintain strong organization and time management during high-volume operations.


Physical & Work Environment Requirements (ADA Compliant)

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Bend, reach, and move throughout kitchen workstations
  • Work in a fast-paced, hot, and noisy environment


Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • 2+ years leadership experience in food service, hospitality, or similar field preferred.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
