Lab Technician -1st Shift

Basic Function: Work in electroplating department maintaining chemical balance of plating tanks & ensuring product quality. Support the engineering team with documentation, process improvements, and quality control of electroplated products. Manage inventory of raw materials and consumable products reordering as needed.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining plating solution chemistry
Perform titrations of plating solution on a monthly basis
Perform and review Hull Cell testing on a weekly basis
Test & sample pH, Temperature and density of plating solution on a daily basis
Correct and record plating solution quality
Order and maintain inventory levels of chemical and additives
Waste water treatment & testing
Hazardous waste shipments

Responsible for Crystal cleaning operations
Dry & resize crystals after plating process
Manage inventory levels of crystal before & after resizing
Chemical cleaning of crystals in the lab setting

Responsible for product inspection & Documentation
Inspect product for visual conformity; Report issues to engineering
Document product inspection datapoints
Record and document plating parameters
Work with engineering & production on Non-Conforming products

Production Support
Support masking, plating & tacking operator with daily tasks when time allows
Clean & maintain machine equipment on a regular basis
Transport production orders from plating department to post processing areas
Polish & clean product after electroplating process

Skills Required:
Strong awareness of chemical safety
Strong organizational skills
Ability and desire to provide daily hands-on floor support
Able to use computer with Microsoft Excel & Word
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent time management skills with a sense of urgency
Able to communicate well with others

Experience and Education
High School Diploma or GED

Essential Physical Requirements

20/20 vision required with or without correction
Ability to use hands 100% of the workday
Ability to stand and walk 100% of the workday
Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to work in shop environment
