Lead Estimator

BESIX Watpac are seeking a Lead Estimator to join our team in Christchurch as we continue the growth of our team in New Zealand. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our collaborative team working on tenders for a range of interesting projects & clients.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Proactively drive company safety policies, practices and procedures in compliance with OH&S legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
• Compile and prepare tenders ensuring that all resources and cost relating to project have been reviewed.
• Maintain regular contact with major suppliers, subcontractors, government authorities, clients and industry consultants to achieve the company's objectives.
• Utilise of industry software to present cost plans and tenders in a clear and concise format.
• Prepare tenders based on various forms of construction delivery.
• Assist the team in negotiating tenders and conditions.
• Collate of cost data directly from industry suppliers, subcontractors and completed projects.
• Monitor project costs and provide cost alternatives as required.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

• Degree in a relevant discipline together with experience in estimating and / or cost planning.
• Demonstrated experience in estimating in a senior capacity.
• Understanding of industry construction techniques and proficient skills in industry software.
• Understanding of construction contracts and the resultant cost implications.
• Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and internal business environment.
