Position Summary
This faculty position reports to the BScN Department Head and supports the development, coordination, administration, and delivery of Learning Pathways opportunities for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the development, and implementation of the strategic plan for BScN learning pathway opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills, post secondary partners, health authorities, and clinical agencies, to develop new learning pathways opportunities for BScN students.
  • Researches and develops curriculum for BScN learning pathways as required including the College governance processes.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to source data and utilizes the data in the development and education of learning pathways opportunities with regards to resources and operational considerations.
  • Advises students who express interest in pathways opportunities.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with faculty within the school to provide information regarding pathway opportunities.
  • Contributes to the development of evaluation processes to determine the effectiveness of pathways opportunities.
  • Participates and or leads internal and external committees on the review of pathways programs including the provision of feedback and revisions for future development.
  • Liaises with BScN Department Head and School of Health Sciences Practice Education Coordinator to facilitate the inclusion of pathways opportunities in regard to processes, scheduling, and health authority liaison.
  • Provides regular updates and written reports to the BScN department and School of Health Sciences on Learning Pathways activity and outcomes with future recommendations/goals.
  • Attends BScN Faculty meetings, curriculum committee and other relevant committee meetings.
  • Attends and contributes to provincial committees i.e. BSN Learning Pathways Working Group meetings.
  • Assists with BScN departmental reports, committee work, and accreditation processes where needed.

Area Hiring Criteria
Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree or Registered Nurse (RN)Diploma with a relevant degree or Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BSPN) or Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing with relevant degree.
  • Master’s degree in nursing/education or related/equivalent, PhD preferred.
  • Valid British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) registration.
  • Minimum three (3) years recent experience in nursing practice in one or more of the following specialty areas:
    • Gerontology
    • Acute care Medical/ surgical nursing
    • Mental health nursing
    • Maternity/child nursing
  • BC Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or equivalent, or plan to complete the PID Program within an appropriate time frame.

Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience in writing and developing curriculum.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to network effectively with internal and external stakeholders relevant to learning pathways.
  • Knowledge of the role of the Registered Nurse in healthcare.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member/leader.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of all terms within the VCC BScN curriculum.

Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
$70.43 - $112.87/hour. Staring salary will be determined by education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the VCCFA Collective Agreement.
