Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of cooking Jamaican dishes and have worked in a Caribbean kitchen. Strong understanding of kitchen operations. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall dining experience of our guests. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, slicing, and measuring.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and ensure proper food handling practices.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Support the head chef in daily kitchen operations and special events.
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in cooking Jamaican dishes and working in a Caribbean kitchen is a must.
  • Knowledge of food handling, safety protocols, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques in meal preparation.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools is advantageous.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week

Flexible language requirement:

  • French not required

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Cooking: 2 years (required)

Language:

  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
