Liquor Sales Representative

NorthStar Spirits is looking for a results-driven Liquor Sales Representative to actively seek out and engage on-premise bar and restaurant accounts with a liquor license present. You will provide appropriate solutions for every account, in order to boost top-line revenue growth, customer acquisition levels, and long-term growth and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Present, promote, and "sell in" liquor products to existing and prospective on-premise restaurant and bar accounts
- Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential accounts to meet their needs
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships with existing bar/restaurant accounts, grow new accounts, and build relationships with Idaho State Liquor Division employees
- Reach out to accounts through cold calling in person, emails, and phone calls. This is not a job for a shy person!
- Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes on a month-by-month basis
- Coordinate sales efforts with company owners through regular check-in's and daily updates
- Analyze the territory/market potential for the 300 District (Northern Idaho) and track sales and marketing efforts
- Supply owners with reports based on customer needs, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new/future liquor products
- Keep abreast of best practices, promotional, and liquor industry trends
- Regularly interact with owners, and update programming, brand priorities and best practices leading to successful execution in the market
- Continuously improve through feedback
- Plan, set-up, attend and run liquor promotional tasting events at bars, restaurants, and liquor stores: Thursdays 5-7pm, Fridays 5-7pm, and Saturdays 2-4pm (as well as other hours), throughout the month.
- Must also be available for our big Liquor Trade Shows on September 20th in Boise, and November 8th in Twin Falls. Hotel stays for these bigger events will be paid for by our company.
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Sales, Marketing and/or Event Representative
- Proficient knowledge of computers, email, data entry, Excel + Word
- Familiarity with Constant Contact email software (and/or the ability to learn), in order to obtain and input email addresses into the system
- Familiarity and/or the ability to learn PosterMyWall.com software for creating bar cocktail menus and event flyers
- Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in Sales, Marketing and/or Event Coordination
- Excellent selling, communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to independently run liquor sampling promotional events to the public, often during the nights and/or weekends
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- BS/BA degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is strongly preferred.
- Although it is not required, a background in the beer, wine and/or the liquor industry is a huge plus! (However, we are willing to train the right person, who is motivated to work hard.)
- Valid Idaho State Motor Vehicle License and ability to maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with Idaho State law
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of liquor spirits to include mashing, distilling, and bottling of product, as well as product/food pairing techniques, and basic knowledge of the difference between spirits categories and/or a willingness to learn
- Strong negotiation skills
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and be able to work independently, once trained
- Ability to create and sell-in innovative cocktail ideas
- Goal-oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction and/or supervision, once fully trained
- Ability to work flexible hours which include occasional evenings and/or weekends, due to public liquor sampling events
- Potential ability to work overnight travel throughout the 300 District (Northern Idaho), as needed, and occasionally to other areas of the state
- Ability to participate in business meetings, company initiatives, and events
- Proficient at calculating commissions, percentages, and reviewing comparative Sales and Marketing data for analysis
- Stay apprised of federal, state and local laws affecting the beverage/alcohol industry within account responsibility
- TIPS, SureSellNow, or other similar liquor serving certification that is current (or the ability to obtain within 30 days)
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include driving, sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor)
- Physical demands also include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 30-50 lbs.

NorthStar Spirits also requires a clean background check. There is no tolerance for a DUI over the past 7 years, since our industry requires the highest standards regarding liquor handling.
Notes About Pay: This is a 1099 Independent Contractor Position. There is a base pay of $15-20/hour, based on experience, as well as a commission and bonus structure, so your rate of pay is dependent on how hard you work. The sky is the limit on how much you can make per month, based off your assertiveness, friendliness and outgoing attitude as you work in the local market, and depending on how well you grow and develop relationships with your bar and restaurant accounts over time! Most Liquor Reps really get into a groove in about 6-8 months from their start date and continue to thrive from there.
Due to local and state liquor laws, this position is only open to applicants 21+ years of age.
Also - Due to State laws regarding liquor reps, you must current reside in the State of Idaho to qualify for this job.
