Based at our Packing Centre site in Smithborough, Monaghan, this individual will work as part of our existing Maintenance team, ensuring the smooth running of our equipment on site through routine maintenance & repair, as required.

Greenfield Foods produces packs and distributes over 7 million eggs per week for the Irish Market place, produced on over 70 farms nationwide.

Job Description

Job Title Maintenance Technician

Contract type Full Time Permanent (on passing 6 months’ probation period)

Reporting to Maintenance Manager

Location Greenfield Foods, Mullandava, Smithboro, Co. Monagahan H18YY33

Pay Terms Wages are paid on a weekly basis.

Hours 40 hours per week and opportunities for overtime

Salary Minimum Salary €34,000

Duties Include

• To keep all machinery well-oiled and maintained (as per maintenance schedule)
• To ensure Ink-jet printers, Rationales and Barcode printers are well maintained and in perfect working order. (All print is legible)
• To have adequate spare parts for all machinery.
• To be ON CALL during grading hours in case of emergency. (breakdown)
• To keep the building in good state of repair including lights, walls ceilings etc.
• To keep refrigeration system clean and in good working order
• Willingness to participate in role development and training in-house and external.
• To carry out checks on machinery throughout the plant on a daily basis.
• Ensure that all breakdowns are carried out swiftly and safely at all times.
• Ensure that all servicing and maintenance throughout the site is done in an efficient, safe and hygienic manner.
• To implement and follow the preventative maintenance schedule
• To ensure that records are completed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• To ensure that the staff comply with the Greenfield Foods Health & Safety policy.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to challenge others in a professional and constructive manner
• Knowledge and experience in a food manufacturing environment an advantage, but not essential
• Understanding of Environmental requirements and responsibilities
• Have a good understanding of how machines work.
• The ability to solve problems under pressure.
• Enjoy a fast paced, demanding production area.
• Have a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Be flexible around shift work
• Ability to TIG weld would be beneficial
• One of either Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical experience would be beneficial

Working hours

• Maintenance core hours are 8am to 4:15pm Monday to Friday, however, you are expected to be co-operative in working outside these hours if necessary.
• There are opportunities for flexibility within the maintenance team.
• Maintenance employees are required to work Saturdays in rotation with the other maintenance staff (generally one in four).
• Public Holidays – Maintenance staff are required to work Public Holidays in rotation with the other maintenance staff
