If so, the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society invites you to apply for our full-time Maintenance Technician position.

This isn’t your average maintenance role. It’s a chance to support wildlife conservation and help create exceptional guest experiences while working in one of South Florida’s most unique settings.

Essential Position Functions

• Capable of using a wide variety of hand and power tools
• Capable of working outdoors in inclement weather conditions and continued exposure to South Florida Climate.
• Organize work and perform daily duties within our work order system. Including but not limited to entries and updates in work order system
• Maintain the good working condition of all facilities including but not limited to exhibits, enclosures, restaurant and its equipment, restrooms, offices, or any Palm Beach Zoo property.
• Perform general maintenance work, troubleshooting, as part of our maintenance team.
• Operation of zoo vehicles and equipment, including forklift, skid steer, and aerial lift upon training as it relates to responsibilities.
• Must be able to work independently as directed or as a team depending on the assigned task
• Maintains safe work environment by following standards and procedures while complying with codes and zoo policies.

• This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in building maintenance. Prior experience is preferred, but we encourage candidates with limited experience who demonstrate a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings.
• Must have availability during special events
• Required to be part of emergency situations and response.
• Skills in troubleshooting, problem solving, planning, use of hand tools, equipment maintenance, basic safety, technical understanding, attention to details, quality focus, and customer service are necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions and continued exposure to South Florida Climate.
• Position may require extended periods in a standing, bent, kneeling, or fixed position, as well as extended periods of walking.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in weather conditions typical to South Florida.
• Capable of lifting 80lbs.
• Daily contact with a living collection of plants and animals in a South Florida climate.
• Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts including holidays and weekends.
• Must pass a background check and drug testing.
