About the Role

HFX Airport Hotel is looking for a Manager on Duty (MOD) to join our Guest Services team. This is a supervisory, front desk-focused role that ensures smooth daily operations while leading and coaching front desk agents.

As a Manager on Duty, you will be the visible leader for the shift, overseeing guest registration, guest inquiries, and hotel services while supporting other departments like Housekeeping, Shuttle, and Maintenance. You’ll have a direct impact on the guest experience by creating a welcoming, professional, and organized environment.

This role is ideal for someone with hotel experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for hospitality. Previous front desk or supervisory experience is an asset, but we’re happy to train the right person.

What You’ll Do

Front Desk & Guest Services Oversight

  • Supervise and support Guest Services Agents during the shift
  • Ensure check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and payments are processed efficiently
  • Respond to guest inquiries via phone, in-person, or online chat
  • Resolve guest concerns and escalate issues when necessary
  • Keep front desk operations organized and running smoothly

Hotel & Department Leadership

  • Assist Housekeeping, Shuttle, and Maintenance teams as needed
  • Perform routine hotel inspections, including guest rooms, pool, gym, and staff areas
  • Monitor occupancy, room availability, and reservation blocks to optimize hotel operations
  • Train and coach staff to maintain high service standards
  • Maintain detailed shift notes and pass along important information to the next MOD

Administrative & Operational Tasks

  • Update hotel and reservation information across third-party platforms
  • Respond to guest reviews on extranet platforms
  • Support meetings setup/tear down, and fill in for staff shortages when required

Who You Are

  • Experienced in hotel operations, front desk, or guest services (preferred)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional
  • Comfortable handling guest concerns and unexpected situations
  • Flexible for days, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts
  • Multilingualism is a plus, but not required
