Job Title: Medical Assistant – Primary Care
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time
Setting: Outpatient Primary Care
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting providers with procedures, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vitals, weight, height, and chief complaints.
- Ensure all recent consults, labs, and diagnostic results are available in the chart.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms and back-office areas.
- Assist providers with minor medical procedures and treatments.
- Administer medications as directed and collect lab specimens for testing.
- Explain procedures, medications, and instructions to patients; obtain consents/ABNs.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, Spirometry, Holter Monitors, and Ear Lavage.
- Process prescription refills and communicate with pharmacies.
- Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies per OSHA standards.
- Schedule patient tests or admissions with external facilities.
- Manage inventory and order medical/lab/office supplies monthly.
- Complete administrative tasks including callbacks, filing, and chart management.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years of related experience preferred.
- MA Certificate, EMT, RN, or LPN license required.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient database systems.
- Ability to read and interpret medical documents and instructions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Outpatient clinical setting.
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional conflict situations.
- Must wear a uniform and safety equipment when assisting with procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $19.00 per hour
