Medical Assistant For Scof

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high quality patient care and assistance to the physician assigned to the office.


REPORTS TO:

Office Manager/Physician

Supervises: N/A


QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical Assistant Certified

Experience: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Medical Assistant

2 years experience preferred


OCCUPATIONAL
EXPOSURE:

Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards; may encounter radiation hazards


MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires constant and frequent judgment and response; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drill. Requires English language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities Requires the ability to move quickly in response to patient needs, to stand for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching, and the ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently and/or up to 10 lbs constantly Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force up to 30 lbs constantly, up to 40 lbs occasionally and up to 100 lbs rarely


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:


  • Provide the highest quality of patient care
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and record in patients' medical records
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the Provider
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, and Provider's instructions to patients
  • Help provider examine and treat patients
  • Return voicemail messages left from patients regarding questions about visit or any other assistance they may need
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
  • Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow team members
  • Assist other employees in the performance of their assignments when necessary
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned


COMMUNICATION:

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers using a translator when necessary
  • Documents information received from the patient and disseminates it to the appropriate people or areas Assists in maintaining and sharing information in order to ensure continuity of patient care through coordination of care provided by physician and support services
