Medical Biller

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating the collection of payments from patients and insurance companies. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and maximize revenue cycle efficiency.

Duties

• Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities and collections.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and billing practices.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all billing processes.

Skills

• Proficiency in medical billing software and coding systems.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG coding, and medical coding practices.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
• Experience in medical collections is a plus.
