Medical Supply Technician – Hospital Inventory & Sterile Supply | Louisville, KY

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

We are seeking dedicated and proficient Medical Supply Technicians to support critical staffing needs in a large medical facility. The primary purpose of this temporary position is to ensure that medical supplies and materials, including sterile and non-sterile items, are accurately and efficiently distributed from secondary inventory points to various service areas within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform core supply management activities including scanning, receiving, and properly storing supplies and material.
• Distribute medical and surgical supplies, utilizing "first in, first out" (FIFO) rotation to ensure product freshness.
• Monitor expiration dates, hazard alerts, and recalls, removing outdated or otherwise compromised supplies from use.
• Conduct daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule to ensure timely replenishment orders.
• Resolve differences between recorded stock levels and physical counts.
• Distribute items according to established requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
• Clean assigned secondary areas (shelves and bins) in accordance with aseptic principles and standards.
• Deliver supplies in a timely and accurate manner to wards, clinics, and other secondary locations. Delivery by motor vehicle may be required at some sites.
• Unpack/uncrate and properly store supplies in primary and secondary inventory areas.
• Support wall-to-wall and periodic inventory processes as needed.
• Maintain a high level of professional conduct when interacting with clinical staff, other logistics personnel, customers, and vendors.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the requirements.
• Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
• Basic understanding and knowledge of mathematical problem solving.
• Practical knowledge of standard supply inventory management procedures, including stock rotation.
• Knowledge of general inventory management practices and procedures.
• Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office software programs such as Word and Excel for entering information and managing supply inventory.
• Ability to search for, interpret, and apply regulatory guidelines to supply-related problems.
• Must be able to stand and walk during the entire workday.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds).
• Ability to push loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing 100 or more pounds).

Pre-Start Requirements

• Proof of the following current medical tests (completed within the past year) must be provided prior to the first duty shift:

- Annual Influenza vaccine (unless medically contraindicated).
- Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) test.

Work Environment

• Work is performed throughout the medical center, including wards, storage buildings, and warehouses.
• Shifts required are typically 7:30 am – 4:00 pm or 8:00 am – 4:30 pm EST, excluding Federal Holidays.
• Technicians may be required to work rotational shifts, including weekends.
