Responsible for ensuring Marriott Standards of Quality in guest service (greeting guests, answering inquiries & requests, checking in and checking out), managing guest’s folios and balancing the daily operation of the hotel

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

Guest Experience

  • Assist with greeting guests, answering inquiries & requests, checking in and checking out.
  • Greet guests while assisting with guest registration, room assignment, accommodating special requests, and answering inquiries & requests.
  • Answer the phones according to the standards of proper etiquette and as fast as possible (no more than three rings).
  • Assist all guests with problems and questions as required. Ensure that all guest problems are resolved effectively using the "Guest Response Program" procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about o Marriott Bonvoy and other frequent traveler programs o Guest rooms, locations, amenities, features, and all other services offered by the hotel o Daily hotel operations, check daily event sheet, and bulletin boards and be up-to-date with all changes, new products and events o The city, the local area, attractions and services to provide the guests with all requested information.
  • Know how to follow all hospitality guidelines.
  • Handle mail and messages properly and on a confidential basis.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the front desk and back-office area at all times.
  • Utilize spare time for cleaning. Keep computer equipment clean at all times.
  • Strive to keep current on changing responsibilities in the daily operation of the department.

Reporting

  • Sort shift work balancing adjustments, charges and paid outs, making all necessary corrections.
  • Maintain all necessary system backups and daily reports.
  • Operate MARSHA, PMS and GXP, take same-day reservations and know how to enter a reservation in MARSHA.
  • Ensure that all reports to be distributed are copied and distributed to the appropriate areas by 7 a.m.
  • At all times strive to represent Marriott most professionally.
  • Be disciplined at all times, stand alert and tall at the front desk, greet guests immediately and offer assistance before the guest needs to ask. Focus your total attention to the customers.

Financial

  • Complete credit card balancing and processing promptly, ensuring that work is transmitted daily and all back filed properly.
  • Complete a thorough audit of restaurant work, balance tallies, post manual charges, monitor cash and charge cheques, complete work in PC and distribute work in PMS on time.
  • Consistently perform cheque, garage and ‘two for’ breakfast audits and report the results.
  • Accurately balance, distribute and proofread daily gross revenue report balancing revenue to the final and room information to the final house count.
  • Professionally critique mistakes and contribute to the daily preparation of the FYI sheet.
  • Assist co-workers in completion of audit work to ensure the timely start of the Night Audit final.
  • Actively participate and support the implementation of new audit procedures.
  • Ensure proper credit when checking out guests and provide the guests with a $0 balance invoice.
  • Follow all cash handling and banking procedures to check out all customers efficiently.
  • Handle late charges according to the procedure.
  • Bank out at the end of the shift by strictly following the blind drop procedures. The Front Desk Manager will always verify the shift closing and enter the drop in the system.
  • Always have the Manager verify the shift closing and enter the drop in the system.
  • When leaving the front desk area, the agent must lock his/her bank so the cash is secured.

Safety Security and Other

  • Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the Manager.
  • Actively participate in the training of new Associates and procedures.
  • Report to work on time, in proper and clean uniform, including nametag.
  • Personal appearance and grooming must conform to standard.
  • Handle all duties according to hotel and brand policies, procedures, internal rules and standards.
  • Follow all safety precautions and follow safe work habits. Maintain safety by adhering to safety policies. Be responsible to report all accidents immediately. Support all safety programs.
  • Other reasonable duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Previous accounting background preferred.
  • Previous experiences as a Guest Service Agent or Night Auditor a definite asset.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Hotel Management preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills in both official languages (English and French) required.
  • Superior service excellence skills to exceed guest’s expectations.
  • Competence in handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and database software programs.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule (weekdays, evening, weekends, holidays).
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player.
