Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:

  • Experience in the position onboard DP Pipelay / Heavy lift vessels (DP)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the offshore industry as a Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch
  • STCW required certificates, National CoC Reg. III/1 and endorsement
  • Dynamic Position Training
    • K-Chief 700 system introduction step 1
    • K-POS maintenance stage 1 course
  • Completion of all relevant training and certifications
  • Strong understanding of maritime safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in English

Tasks:

  • Oversee safe watch keeping and ensure the proper control and upkeep of all engine room machinery and propulsion systems throughout your watch.
  • Diligently maintain all required documentation and log entries in line with company standards.
  • Step into the role of Maintenance Supervisor or Ballast Control Operator when circumstances demand, following IMO Resolution A.1079(28) protocols.
  • Provide direct reporting to the DP Second Engineer, conveying updates and any operational issues without delay.
  • Stay thoroughly informed about company policies, current industry standards, and all applicable statutory regulations.
  • Execute all tasks in the engine room consistent with the Vessel Management Manual and company guidelines, ensuring uniformity in work practices.
  • Guarantee that engine room machinery functions safely and efficiently during assigned duty periods.
  • Manage DP-related engine room operations by adhering strictly to company procedures.
  • Apply the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) rigorously to survey, test, and maintain all machinery and emergency safety systems.
  • Carry out regular analysis of cooling water, sanitary water, diesel fuel, and lubricants to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Participate in fuel operations, including bunkering, offloading, and the refuelling process, while managing daily calculations of Remaining On Board (R.O.B.).
  • Promptly advise the DP Second Engineer regarding the efficient and timely procurement of spare parts for your assigned equipment.
  • Fulfil roles within the vessel’s emergency team as dictated by the Emergency Preparedness Manual.
  • Act immediately upon encountering unsafe practices, hazardous conditions, near misses, or incidents, reporting them to the DP Second Engineer.
  • Ensure that no major operational actions are undertaken without notifying the DP Chief or Second Engineer, and escalate hazardous situations that exceed your intervention scope.
  • Maintain vessel operations in full compliance with class requirements and statutory legislation.
  • Monitor activities to prevent environmental pollution in accordance with MARPOL guidelines.
  • Record all engine operations meticulously in the logbook during your watch and facilitate smooth transitions during watch handovers.
  • Uphold safe working practices at all times, ensuring both personal safety and the security of the vessel's operations.
