Overview
We are seeking an experienced Waste Collection Operations Manager to lead our daily waste collection and disposal operations. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. You will oversee a team of drivers, helpers, and supervisors to ensure timely service, route optimization, and superior customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day collection, transportation, and disposal services while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity.
- Safety & Compliance: Lead a proactive safety program focused on accident prevention; ensure strict adherence to OSHA, DOT, and local environmental regulations.
- Personnel Management: Recruit, train, and mentor frontline employees; conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions.
- Route Optimization: Continually audit and improve route efficiency to reduce truck turnaround times and fuel consumption. Control Overtime.
- Fleet & Facility Maintenance: Coordinate preventive maintenance programs for heavy equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime.
- Financial Management: Participate in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and track key operational metrics like waste volume and weight.
- Customer & Community Relations: Act as a liaison for community relationships and resolve sensitive customer inquiries or complaints.
- Problems in the field; Handle all problems in the field from accidents to property damage
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3–7 years in waste management, logistics,
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, or Engineering is preferred, but equivalent field experience is accepted.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in waste tracking software, fleet management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly beneficial.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and spend significant time in the field.

- Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and adapt during on-site emergencies, equipment failures, or staffing gaps.
- Leadership: A "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude with the ability to lead from the front and build team morale.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to decipher data and form actionable operational plans.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
