Irish Building Supply – Dún Laoghaire / Kilcoole
Irish Building Supply is seeking an experienced Accounts professional to join our team on a part-time basis (25 hours per week).
This is a stand-alone accounts role within a well-established family-run builders merchants. The successful candidate will take responsibility for day-to-day financial administration while also supporting stock control processes across our two locations.
This role will primarily be based in our Head Office in Dún Laoghaire, with 2–3 mornings per month in our Kilcoole store.

- Have a minimum of 3–5 years practical accounts experience
- Be available to work every weekday morning (Mon–Fri)
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car
- Be able to work between Dún Laoghaire (predominantly) and Kilcoole locations

Irish Building Supply is a family-run independent builders merchants supplying building materials to Dublin and Wicklow for over 55 years.
We supply builders, tradespeople, self-builders and DIY customers from our two locations:
- Dún Laoghaire – Head Office and warehouse
- Kilcoole – retail store and logistics hub
We are a close-knit team where people take ownership of their roles and contribute to the smooth running of the business.
Role Overview
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company accounts function, working closely with the management team.
Approximately 80% of the role relates to accounts administration, with 20% focused on stock control and inventory oversight across the two locations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance
- Processing supplier invoices and managing accounts payable
- Allocating customer payments and managing accounts receivable
- Managing customer credit accounts and queries
- Weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Assisting with debtor management and credit control
- Participating in weekly debtor review meetings
- Maintaining accurate financial records within the accounting system (Intact iQ)
- Supporting preparation of financial reports and documentation for management
- Assisting with VAT returns
Stock Control & Inventory Oversight
- Monitoring goods received and supporting stock accuracy
- Coordinating cycle counts across both locations
- Assisting with stock reconciliations
- Coordinating returns to suppliers
- Supporting management in maintaining accurate inventory records
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in an accounts role
- Experience working with accounting systems (Intact, Sage, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Comfortable working in a stand-alone role with responsibility for accounts
- Strong communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office
Experience in stock control or inventory management would be an advantage but is not essential.
Working Hours
- 25 hours per week
- Monday – Friday mornings (required)
- Start time between 8:00am and 9:00am
- Finish time flexible depending on total hours
Location
- Primary location: Dún Laoghaire Head Office
- Kilcoole store: approximately 2 mornings per month

- Parking is not provided in Dún Laoghaire
- Parking available in Kilcoole

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: €26,000.00-€30,000.00 per year
