- Under direction, performs difficult engineering duties of a professional nature while serving as the Permitting and Compliance Manager.
- Serves as a project coordinator with the Office of Water Resources (OWR) regarding the IDNR dam safety program.
- Coordinates with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) regarding the IDNR bridge inspection program for IDNR owned facilities.
- Assists regional staff and Division of Statewide & Field Operations management regarding the 1972 Clean Water Act and being in compliance with permitting needs with State and Local Department of Public Health Department requirements.
- Assists staff statewide with small programs such as Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance issues identified during regular field inspections.
- Utilizes computer programs to produce technical computations and cost estimates in support of proposed projects.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a college or university program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
- Requires three years of experience in civil or water resource engineering; or three years of experience in the Civil Engineering series.
- Three (3) years of working experience in coordination/submission of potable water or wastewater treatment permits.
- Three (3) years of working experience instructing staff on safety and compliance measures.
- Three (3) years of work experience successfully communicating with state and federal regulatory authorities.
- Two (2) years of work experience budgeting for cost estimates for work related purposes.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires Wastewater Operator License Class 2 within one year of employment.
- Requires Class C Public Water Supply Monitor Certificate within one year of employment.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30, 1 hr. lunch
