Personal Support Worker (Psw) For In-Home Care

This is not a respite care position.

Private care is in the home. Position involves working alternate weekends.

$24 - $30 per hour as payroll employee

$30 - $40 per hour as independent contractor

No Cash Arrangements

Private care in the home for 83 year old senior male with LBD and complex medical supporting independent living and quality of life. Joining a team of 6 certified, experienced and highly proficient PSWs. Please apply if you have the requisite experience and qualifications which include both professional and life skills. In person competency and behavioural interviews will be conducted with potential candidates.

This is not a respite care position.

- Must be fully vaccinated (Current)

- $2M Liability insurance will be required through OPSWA Membership

- Current police vulnerable sector check required (PVSC)

- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate

- Must be confident and proficient in 1 person complex transfers

- Must be confident and proficient operating Hoyer lift as 1 person

- This is a part time position which includes alternate weekends

Responsibilities:

  • assisting in personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, undressing, toileting, and ambulation
  • queuing and/or administering medication
  • planning and preparing meals
  • must be able cook and barbecue (life skills)
  • light housekeeping (life skills)
  • socialization
  • observing and reporting hazardous conditions, physical, behavioural, and cognitive changes
  • catheter care following best practices
  • accompanying on Mobility Plus to appointments and church
  • police vulnerable sector check required (PVSC)

Education:

  • PSW Certificate (diploma)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (current)

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years PSW experience in various settings
  • Experience with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, LBD and Dementia care
  • Experience with Diabetes
  • Palliative care experience beneficial
  • Ability to safely manage one person complex transfers
  • Ability to safely manage Hoyer lift as one person

Must have driver's license and personal vehicle. Not required for job, but to ensure reliability and accommodate scheduling.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
