Job Description - Piping Site Manager & Planner
Your profile and qualifications:
Job overview:
- On site, the site manager is :
- The head of Installation on site.
- The head of Communication on site.
- The head of site organization and documentation on site.
- The go to person for any erection related to piping installation.

In between jobs the site manager is site planner and is:
- Support to the sales team and execution teams with regards to piping installation.
- Responsible for understanding and clarifying the installation scope of works list based on customer document (specification, PID, layout, etc…)
- Responsible for developing installation strategy, scenario and schedule
- Responsible for estimating installation costs (manhours, materials, tools, lifts, etc.) for piping, lifting, scaffolding and insulation activities
- The go to person for any erection related to piping installation
- In charge of organization of the specific knowledge of piping erection related activities (installation planning, Assessment of manpower requirements, Implementation of actions from return of experience, Improvement of procedures, …)

Main responsibilities:

Site Installation management (onsite)
- Site logistics (deliveries)
- Work breakdown of site activities
- Supervision of the assembly teams
- Responsible person for the assembly quality
- Responsible for the time schedules / project status.
- Responsible to monitor the budget and report deviations to Project Manager.
- Coordination of the assembly with the design department, finalize design studies on site when necessary
- Coordination of the assembly with the customers.
- Reporting on site labor via time sheet records
- Contractor management
- Hand over a SATed plant to commissioning engineers
- Estimate assembly hours and planning for scope changes during installation (change orders)
- Responsible person for the tools and site commodities

Responsible person for the documentation on site:
- Responsible for reporting site activities
- Progress reports (e.g. EVM)
- HSE reports
- Budget and forecasting reports
- Liaise with local forces (R&C’s, HSE Specialists, Consultants)

Site Installation planning & estimating (when offsite, in between jobs)
- Analysis and clarification of the installation scope of works based on customer tender document (specification, PID, layout, etc…)
- Develop the Scope of works list
- Develop installation strategy, scenario and detailed schedule
- Estimate installation costs (manhours, materials, tools, lifts, etc.) for piping, lifting, scaffolding and insulation activities
- Support selection of installation companies (Audit, URS, RFQ, PO)
- Participate in customer Meetings and visits of installation to collect information for quotation
- Integrate HSE requirements (meeting GEA standards as well as customer and local requirements)
- Plan site activity ahead of installation (activity work breakdown, schedule, materials, RFQ, etc…)

Knowledge building (onsite / offsite):
- Maintain a quotation database for erection activity (manhours, lifting, assembly, piping, scaffolding, insulation, site settlement, …)
- Return of experiences, non-conformity reports, improvement suggestions, etc.
Business trips / Travels
- Ability to spend at least 100 nights away per year on business trips
- Full time at site over the project erection duration (up to 6 months)
- Projects located in France and Maghreb
Required knowledge, skills and experience
Personal Skills
- Appetency for site work and office work
- Ability to think ahead and plan (WBS, scheduling, Risk assessment, EVM, …)
- Strong Technical insights regarding on-site matters (piping, welding, lifting, cost estimation…)
- Spatial sense, good imagination of 3D environments
- Knowledge of welding procedures for stainless steel.
- Skills in electrical installation is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Ability to lead sub-suppliers’ teams
- Able to maintain a good cooperation in the team / a high level of motivation
- Ability to work with sales and execution team
- Good team worker, excellent communicator

Other Skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, One note, Word, Excel)
- Experience with AutoCAD, Naviswork, BIM viewers
- Experience with MS Project is a plus.
Education
- Engineering or Technical Degree preferably Mechanical
- Project Management training / diploma would be a plus
Experience
- 5-10 + years of site installation management of industrial projects or 5-10 + years in project management including significant site experience on installation.
- Experience within Dairy or Food business would be a plus
Language Skills
- English: full professional proficiency (oral and written, at a negotiation level)
