Precision Machining Technician Ii (Cnc Lathe) – Roller Manufacturing

Do you think in thousandths?

American Roller Company—recognized for excellence in roller manufacturing—seeks a CNC Machinist II in Riverdale, IL. If you speak G and M, live in Mastercam, and can turn a SolidWorks model into a flawless part, let’s talk.

$1,000 sign-on bonus paid after 6 months of employment.

Imagine this scenario

A rush order lands: a custom shaft for a converting line. You pull the SolidWorks model, program in Mastercam, and decide whether G&M code edits or conversational programming will be faster. You set up the CNC lathe, cut the first article, and confirm every feature with micrometers and gauges. You catch a potential discrepancy in the E-drawing, note it on the job traveler, and verify details in MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT. You finish the run, deburr, polish, rustproof, wrap, and crate—ensuring each part is fully protected. You save the final program with supporting docs, update organized files, return blueprints to the print rack, and log time in Job-Boss Workstation Driver. Before you leave, you complete daily maintenance sheets and write clear pass-down instructions for the next shift.

Your impact

  • Deliver parts to blueprint requirements or CREW’s common shop tolerance, including pre-finishing operations.
  • Program/setup CNC lathes from SolidWorks via Mastercam; proficient with CNC G&M codes and conversational programming.
  • Perform in-machine inspections; complete inspection reports and job travelers; review blueprints/E-drawings for any issues.
  • Straighten rolls and shafts using a torch or hydraulic press; load/unload products; source needed shop materials.
  • Execute final processing: polishing/finishing, deburring, rustproofing, wrapping, crating, and protecting parts.
  • Uphold safety and reliability: daily machine care, clean work area, ISO work instructions, and standard CREW shop practices.
  • Communicate clearly with operators and supervisors; provide written shift-change notes.

Your background

  • 3–5 years of CNC lathe machining experience.
  • Solid CNC programming ability, including conversational programming.
  • Fluent in reading technical drawings; expert with micrometers, gauges, and precision measurement.
  • Available to train on first shift.
  • Committed to relocating to Riverdale, IL prior to start.

Why this role

You’ll own start-to-finish machining on custom parts that keep production lines moving, all within a disciplined, documentation-forward environment that prizes accuracy and service.
