Overview

Congregation Etz Hayim (CEH) Preschool in Arlington, VA is seeking a caring and dedicated teaching assistant to join our friendly, warm early childhood staff. Our preschool is a small nurturing environment where children learn and thrive. Each child’s personal development is supported through play-based discovery via activities, experimentation, and personal exploration. We are a Jewish based preschool and celebrate Jewish holidays and Shabbat.

We are looking for staff coverage from 8am-6pm Full-time (5 days) or a Part-Time (5 days) with a morning (from 8am) or afternoon (to 6pm) schedule. .

The ideal candidate must possess a love for children, have experience working with young children, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing learning environment.

Salary Information: The starting hourly rate for the Teaching Assistant position is $18-$20/hr. depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in managing classroom activities and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and learning.
• Provide individualized support to students, catering to their unique learning needs and styles.
• Support preparing activities tailored to preschool-aged children.
• Engage with students to promote social skills and emotional development.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
• Ensure child safety and well-being during classroom and outdoor activities.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom space conducive to learning.
• Help in preparation of snack, clean-up, and other daily activities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational setting
• Strong classroom management skills to create an effective learning environment.
• Knowledge child development and learning techniques for early learners.
• Ability to support teacher with students with diverse learning styles.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.
• A genuine love for working with children and a commitment to their growth and development.
