The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering function in Hamilton on a permanent night shift, working 11:00pm to 7:30am, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead, this role is responsible for optimising manufacturing processes during overnight operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and performance standards are consistently met. You’ll analyse existing processes, implement improvements, and support both ongoing production and new product introductions.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys working independently at night, driving continuous improvement while partnering closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams.

You will:

  • Analyse manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost

  • Develop and implement process optimisation strategies to improve productivity and performance

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies

  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional problem-solving during night shift operations

  • Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and customer requirements

  • Support equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimise downtime

  • Provide technical support to resolve equipment and process-related issues overnight

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability, scalability, and cost efficiency

  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, SOPs, and training materials

  • Train and support production teams on new processes, equipment use, and safety protocols

The Fit

You’re comfortable working permanent night shift hours and enjoy the autonomy and focus that overnight work provides. You’re analytical, improvement-driven, and confident making decisions that improve manufacturing performance.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • NZQA qualification, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering field

  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment (regulated experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems

  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions

  • The ability to manage multiple initiatives independently

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Why Gallagher?

Joining Gallagher means joining a global manufacturing and technology leader that invests in engineering excellence and long-term career development.
