Production Cooks | Ka Ora, Ka Ako

Job Title: Production Cook (2 Roles)
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (during school term time)
Pay: At least the Living Wage

About the Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Production Cooks to join our team. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will play a key role in preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for our school catering program. This is a hands-on role in a busy production kitchen, where attention to detail, food safety, and quality are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and package meals to agreed standards.

  • Ensure all food is hygienically prepared, correctly portioned, and presented.

  • Prepare dietary meals separately to prevent cross-contamination.

  • Assist with stock control and monthly stocktakes.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.

  • Follow techniques and procedures as demonstrated by the Production Manager.

  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and delivery drivers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 3 National Certificate in Hospitality (Professional Cookery)

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a kitchen environment

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask

  • Honest, reliable, and proactive attitude

  • Fun, enthusiastic, and able to work unsupervised

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20kg

  • Flexibility to work varied hours during school term

The UCSA commercial team manages several cafes and bars, as well as sizeable catering and events teams delivering services to students, staff, external customers and commercial partners.
