Production Manager

Front-of-House Audio Engineer for Live Performances and Special Events

Supervises: All Audio, Video and Lighting Staff

Supervising Live Audio:

Mixing Audio:

Create a world-class live mix, with a focus on tonality, idiomatic appropriateness, and clarity. The audio mix should be an excellent representation of the artist’s performance, and desired aesthetic. Well-informed communication with the artist, as well as a deep knowledge of musical performance, and recorded history will be important. The engineer will possess an in-depth knowledge of both audio engineering fundamentals, and advanced mixing practices.

This will include proper microphone selection and placement, proper console gain structure, and advanced use of console busses. The engineer will utilize a wide variety of equipment to achieve these world-class results, including Acoustics speakers, amplifiers, and L’A Network Manager software, Yamaha Rivage Consoles, and Shure and Sennheiser microphones.

Setup:

The engineer will participate in the load in and set up of the artist, including house audio equipment, backline, and rental equipment. The engineer will participate in any testing of the equipment.

Soundcheck:

The engineer will operate the FOH mixing console during the artist’s soundcheck and will ensure that the mix will be ready when the show begins. The engineer will suggest any changes necessary during the soundcheck, and will communicate with the artist, and members of the production staff, as needed.

Leadership:

The engineer will be responsible for the audio quality of every concert. To this end, the engineer will need to make critical decisions quickly and confidently, with the knowledge that any decision could affect the success of the show. The engineer will need to both demonstrate and model this behavior for the other production staff members. The Engineer will also give direction to any other audio staff members, and make sure they are working safely, and effectively towards the shared goal of a successful show.

Advancing of All Shows:

The engineer will be responsible for communications with artists, their management, and staff day of the show. The engineer will need to determine all the artist's technical needs, and assess the next step needed to meet those needs. These needs include arrival, parking, staging, audio, lighting, video, and backline requirements. The engineer will ensure that all necessary facilities, equipment, and staff are available to achieve these goals. This will include contacting vendors regarding additional equipment needs. The engineer will present budget needs for contractual approval and make changes, as necessary. The engineer will provide production documents and information available to all staff and will include stage plots, input lists, day sheets, and any other useful information.

Supervising Special Event A/V Needs:

Mixing Special Event Audio:

The engineer will be responsible for providing excellent- quality audio for all special events. This will include mixing wireless microphones, playback music and cues, audio from video, and musical performances. The engineer will have a solid understanding of professional audio equipment and practices, including familiarity with Yamaha digital mixing consoles, Dante audio-transport networks, and Shure wireless microphone systems. The manager will be able to deliver clean and clear presentations and performances for every event.

Presenting Special Event Video:

The engineer will ensure that consistently high-quality video is displayed for all special events. The engineer will have experience with video projection and switching, as well as installed television display systems. A familiarity with PC and Mac display settings, as well a knowledge of PowerPoint, as well as other presentation software will be important.

Special Event Lighting:

The engineer will understand stage lighting design and capabilities, sufficient to determine client needs, and communicate them effectively to the Lighting Designer, and any other production staff. The engineer will be familiar with the operation of the house lighting control systems and be able to adjust them to the client’s needs.

Managing Event Production Staff:

Will ensure that all audio, video, and lighting needs are met for all special events at Jimmy’s.

Will determine Production Staff needs for each event and coordinate a schedule with staff.

Will understand all our in-house A/V capabilities, and will be able to suggest appropriate vendors, when outside equipment or expertise is needed.

Will gain expert knowledge of all installed audio, video, and lighting equipment in Jimmy’s, including all speaker systems, televisions, signage, lighting controls, and Crestron systems. This will require receiving in-depth training on all house equipment from the appropriate vendors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
