Production Manager, Commercial Printing

Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Are you an experienced and results-driven leader in the commercial printing industry? We're looking for a highly motivated Production Manager to oversee our daily operations and ensure the efficient and high-quality production of all print materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the production team through fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor all print production activities to meet deadlines, project outcomes, and quality standards.
  • Optimize production workflows and lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and implement automations.
  • Collaborate with senior management, sales, pre-press, and customer service teams to ensure seamless project execution from start to finish.
  • Oversee inventory of raw materials and supplies, and optimize stock levels.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all printed materials meet the highest standards.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated safely and effectively.
  • Execute and maintain safety standards, identifying and mitigating potential hazards to ensure a safe working environment as an active member of the OH&S Committee.
  • Prepare and present production updates and reports to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the commercial printing industry or a combination of 5+ years of progressive experience in roles such as Production Supervisor, Lead Printer, Operations Coordinator, or Department Manager within a high-volume print-related environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of various printing processes (offset, digital, wide format) and finishing techniques.
  • Strong technical expertise and understanding of industry equipment and technologies.
  • Adept at quickly learning new technologies and software applications.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Fiery Jobflow, and Fiery Command Workstation, Onyx Go Plus, and Flexi Complete is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
