Project Accountant

Position: Project Accountant
Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary: $70K + Benefits

We’re seeking a Project Accountant to join our growing team in Charlotte, NC. In this role,you’ll play a vital part in supporting our construction projects by managing project financials, tracking costs, and ensuring all financial data is accurate and up to date. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, operations teams, and senior leadership to maintain financial integrity and help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare, maintain, and analyze project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to support financial decision-making.

· Process accounts payable and receivable transactions while reconciling job costs and ensuring accuracy across all accounts.

· Manage project billings, change orders, subcontractor payments, and related documentation.

· Support monthly financial close activities, including journal entries and reporting of project results.

· Collaborate with project managers to monitor financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.

· Assist with internal and external audits by preparing detailed project accounting schedules and reports.

Qualifications:

· 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or project-based industries

· Strong understanding of job cost accounting, progress billing, and contract administration

· Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, or QuickBooks

· Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools a plus

· Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across departments
