Duties

• Prepare comprehensive construction estimates for steel fabrication projects, including material costs, labor, equipment, and overheads using HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review project plans, specifications, and drawings to develop accurate pricing strategies.
• Utilize Bluebeam for detailed plan review and markup to ensure clarity and precision in project documentation.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best value for the company while maintaining quality standards.
• Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights, assess site conditions, and verify scope of work for more precise estimations.
• Assist in cost control throughout the project lifecycle by monitoring budgets, tracking changes, and implementing adjustments as needed.
• Support project management teams by providing detailed estimates that align with project timelines and client expectations.

Skills

• Strong proficiency in construction estimating software such as Strumis and Bluebeam for plan review and markup.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
• In-depth knowledge of construction estimating processes specific to steel fabrication projects.
• Construction site experience that provides practical insight into on-the-ground challenges and workflows.
• Familiarity with construction management principles, including cost control, scheduling, and contract administration.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts accurately.
