The Opportunity
In the context of continued growth in our business, we are recruiting an R&D Tax Credit Manager or Senior Manager with our tax practice. R&D Tax Credit and Innovation Incentives is a fast-growing area of our tax practice, with strong growth in recent years to support our clients with their Irish based innovation investments.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of R&D tax credit claims for a diverse client base. The role involves managing technical assessments, financial analyses, and preparing Revenue‑compliant technical documentation for claimant companies, while supporting the growth of RSM’s innovation and incentives service line. In this role, you will have the support of large pool of RSM in-house science experts drawn from a diverse range of disciplines.
This is an exciting time to join a fast-growing tax practice. You will have the opportunity to play a central role in driving the development of the firm’s R&D Tax Credit & Incentives services.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage end‑to‑end delivery of R&D tax credit claims for multiple clients across various industries.
  • Conduct technical interviews with client engineering, scientific, and software teams to identify qualifying R&D activities.
  • Prepare and review high‑quality technical narratives aligned with Irish Revenue guidelines.
  • Oversee calculation of eligible R&D expenditure including payroll, contractors, consumables, software, and plant & machinery.
  • Develop robust documentation frameworks and methodologies to ensure audit‑ready claims.
  • Support clients through Revenue queries, audits, and risk reviews.
  • Act as the primary client contact, managing timelines, expectations, and project delivery.
  • Contribute to business development activities including proposal writing and client pitches.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and providing technical training.
  • Support the strategic development of RSM’s R&D incentives offering through thought leadership and internal initiatives.

About the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • 4–7 years’ experience preparing or managing R&D tax credit claims within Ireland.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish R&D tax legislation and Revenue practice.
  • Experience in a professional services/advisory environment.
  • Exceptional report‑writing skills
  • Proficiency in technology adoption and technology driven solutions.
  • Financial and analytical skills, including review of expenditure models and cost allocations.
  • Professional qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA) desirable.
  • Background in science, engineering, software, or similar technical fields is an advantage.

Additional Information
  • Location: Dublin (hybrid working available).
  • Reporting to: Tax Partner.
  • Some client‑site visits may be required for technical workshops and interviews.
