Regional Manufacturing Director, EMEA
Overview:
Reporting to the VP, Manufacturing, the EMEA Regional Manufacturing Director is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the FMC’s entire manufacturing process within the EMEA region, including Formulation & Packaging, Active Ingredient plants and F&P Tolling operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the company runs its manufacturing operations in a cohesive way across its diverse footprint of assets. The goal of the manufacturing team is to run FMC plants focused on safety, quality, and efficiency while aligning with the company’s strategic goals. The Regional Manufacturing Director will lead and mentor a team of Plant and Tolling Managers, driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing production processes, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Lead the manufacturing function in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, quality, safety, and cost management.
- Collaborate with other team members to drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure cohesive business operations.
Operational Management:
- Lead a team of Plant Managers who are responsible for daily manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, production execution and inventory management.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Implement and monitor production systems to achieve optimal throughput and minimize waste.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all manufacturing sites.
- Maintain and improve quality standards to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other tools to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the manufacturing team, conducting regular evaluations and providing feedback.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the manufacturing budget for the region, ensuring cost control and financial targets are met.
- Analyze financial performance data and develop actions to improve competitiveness in our operations and support objectives that help the business win in the marketplace.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Technology and Innovation:
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Stay informed of industry trends and advancements, applying best practices to keep the organization competitive.
Supply Chain Collaboration:
- Work closely with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors to support uninterrupted production.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure contingency plans are in place to address any disruptions in the manufacturing process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 15-20 years of experience in manufacturing management, supply chain, and other related areas, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale manufacturing operations in a complex, high-volume production environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute operational plans effectively.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with the latest manufacturing technologies and innovations.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require travel to multiple manufacturing sites within the region.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
