What you'll be doing - Te whakamahere:
Based in Shanghai, the Regional Operations Manager role exists to ensure that NZTE has the best possible operational management throughout the region so that we can focus on effectively supporting our customers (New Zealand Exporters) to achieve their growth goals. You will work closely with the Regional Director and play a senior role in the Greater China Leadership Team of 45 across the region.
This is a hands-on role with huge variety. You will be involved in a range of finance, project management, human resources, risk and compliance, safety and wellbeing, operational facility management and stakeholder engagement activities, as well as provide a vital link back to colleagues in New Zealand - fostering a collaborative and consistent approach to operational management throughout the organisation.
This role has a small team of direct reports, and you will have very close relationships with our wider Greater China Office Managers and support team- leading through influencing whilst building capability and alignment.
Please note: In compliance with local requirements, the successful candidate must be either a Chinese or New Zealand citizen.
What you'll need to be successful - O- Pu-kenga:
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin and English
- Have an excellent ability to build trusted relationships and rapport with others - including across a number of offices
- Be results-oriented with a strong ability to 'get things done' and turn your hand to many things
- Display strong leadership qualities - be a respected leadership voice at the table
- Work well under pressure and not be afraid to do things outside of your comfort zone
- Be able to multi-task while not losing sight of the bigger picture
- It is also highly advantageous if you have a level of financial acumen, and a solid understanding of local HR/labour laws and compliance across the Greater China region
