Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a multispecialty ambulatory setting. The RN ensures safe, evidence-based nursing care, promotes health and wellness, and maintains compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care across multiple specialties.
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including collecting patient histories, performing focused physical assessments, identifying changes in patient status, and contributing to the development and modification of patient care plans.
Assist in the implementation of medical care plans by carrying out provider-directed interventions, treatments, and follow-up activities consistent with RN scope of practice.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and support diagnostic workflows in accordance with practice protocols.
Review and interpret lab and diagnostic results (within nursing scope) and communicate findings to patients and providers following established guidelines.
Provide patient education and counseling regarding disease management, medications, therapeutic regimens, wellness promotion, and health maintenance.
Administer medications and immunizations safely and accurately in accordance with provider orders and organizational protocols.
Support care coordination, including patient follow-up, facilitating referrals, and ensuring continuity of care across the multidisciplinary team.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, assist with clinical audits, and adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols.
Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring compliance with regulatory, organizational, and HIPAA standards.
Respond to clinical emergencies (within RN scope), including initiating basic life support, triage, and notifying appropriate providers.
Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and competency validation activities to maintain licensure and support practice goals.
Perform other nursing duties as assigned by supervising physicians, advanced practice providers, or practice leadership, consistent with RN licensure and scope.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Competence with computerized health records and clinical documentation systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and moving throughout the workday.
- Ability to manipulate equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and assisting with patient transfers exceeding 100 pounds.
- Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity for clinical tasks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
