Peninsula Surgery Center, LLC (PSC) is a free-standing surgery center with two operating rooms and one procedure room, open Monday through Friday. Job Duties
- Performs the circulating nurse’s role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures
- Prepare the operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed
- Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
- Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia
- Reviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
- Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures
- Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards
Required Education and License/Certification
- Associates level degree from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's level preferred
- Active RN California License
- Current AHA BLS/ ACLS Certification
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the operating room at an acute care facility required (in the last five years); Orthopedic experience preferred.
- ASC experience preferred
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and with their office personnel, coworkers, and other healthcare facilities in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
- Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC experience preferred
