Clinical Care Role in Aged Care Setting
A Registered Nurse at Radius Matua Lifecare & Village is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care to elderly residents in a rest home, hospital-level, and dementia care environment. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team working together to ensure safe, compassionate, and person-centred healthcare.
What You'll Do?
Clinical Care
Assess residents’ health status and ongoing care needs.
Develop, review, and update individual care plans.
Administer medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
Perform wound care and clinical procedures (including IV therapy if qualified).
Aged Care & Dementia Support
Support residents with dementia and complex medical conditions.
Monitor changes in behaviour, cognition, and overall wellbeing.
Promote dignity, comfort, and quality of life for all residents.
Monitoring & Documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
Document observations, interventions, and care outcomes.
Communicate changes in resident health to doctors and families.
Leadership & Team Support
Supervise and support Healthcare Assistants and caregivers.
Provide clinical guidance and support during care delivery.
Participate in handovers, shift reports, and team meetings.
Emergency Response
Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the facility.
Coordinate with emergency services when required.
Provide immediate clinical intervention and first aid.
Communication & Family Support
Communicate clearly with families regarding resident wellbeing.
Work closely with doctors, specialists, and allied health professionals.
Support end-of-life and palliative care discussions with sensitivity.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent qualification).
Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (Annual Practising Certificate).
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Experience in aged care or hospital nursing.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable Experience
Dementia care or geriatric nursing experience.
Wound care and IV therapy competency.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
Training in palliative care.
