Job Overview
Seeking a detail-oriented Administrative or Legal Assistant, Paralegal and or Lawyer in more than 1 position for casual, on-call, remote work. These positions involve providing general, legal and administrative assistance and research support to ensure the smooth operation of legal processes. The work involves BC Supreme Court, Family, Civil and Commercial work. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, research and time management skills. Preferably having limited to extensive familiarity with BC Supreme Court, Civil, Commercial and Family law, legal processes and research tools. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience while contributing to case preparation.

Duties

  • According to skill set and specific role as Administrative Assistant, Paralegal or Lawyer. Where appropriate, various duties may include as follows:
  • Assist with legal research using tools such as Canlii and other legal resources to gather pertinent information for case law.
  • Assist with drafting, editting and filing legal documents, correspondence, and research.
  • Manage case files through organized filing systems, both electronically and physically.
  • Access the Court Services Online, law libraries, legal references and online resources.
  • Limited to keen knowledge concerning BC Supreme Court, Civil, Commercial and Family law and rules, proceedure and ability to interpret Rules would be helpful.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Training and or experience in an administrative or clerical role within a legal setting is preferred but not required for the General Administrative Assistant.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools such as Canlii, AI, Court Services Online and document management systems.
  • Effective research skills for gathering applicable information.
  • Strong written communication attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Computer skills and typing speed beneficial
  • Work experience or training involving litigation practice, legal or administative duties helpful. Particularly Involving civil and commercial as well as family related issues.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $25.00-$150.00 per hour
