Description
The LEARN LAB is seeking a highly motivated team member to serve as a part-time research associate. The selected candidate will be expected to work 5-10 hours/week and will be reviewed monthly by their supervisor. The candidate will work as part of a team transcribing and analyzing videos of parent-child interactions. The goals of the position are to contribue to a corpus dataset suitable for linquistic analysis, and to contribue to analyses of parent language input and children's expressive language. Work can be done remotely.
Position Responsibilities:
- Transcribe videos
- Quality checking of existing transcriptions
- Supervise students who are learning transcription
- Analysis of linguistic variables
The Research Associate will be responsible for supervising the activites of 1-2 undergraduate students.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $28-29.50/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully remote.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of CHAT transcription format
- Basic knowledge of International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
- Familiarity with CLAN and its use for analyzing linguistic variables
- Familiarity with the characteristics of young children's speech, including common phonological processes.
