Research Associate

The Research Associate will help manage research efforts under the supervision of Dr. Ayodeji Aderibigbe in the Department of Animal Sciences in the area of poultry nutrition, physiology, and environmental sustainability. The incumbent will perform both basic and applied research related to feed evaluation, gut and bone health, and meat and egg quality; manage laboratory operations; assist with and lead research projects; plan and perform lab-based experiments and feeding trials; coordinate, collect, and analyze data; and prepare research results for publication and presentation in reports, papers, conferences, and other media. Additional duties include supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate research students, assisting with laboratory techniques and equipment operation, performing basic lab maintenance, and maintaining laboratory supplies and inventories.
Required Experience:
Experience with handling and managing poultry (broiler, layers, turkeys); conducting feeding trials, feed formulation, and sample collection (tissue, serum, digesta etc.). Proficiency in laboratory analyses related to feed and tissue characterization and use of data analysis software (SAS, R, or GraphPad). Strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
Desired Experience:
Master’s degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Nutrition, or related field; strong analytical and writing skills; ability to work independently with moderate supervision; experience operating analytical instruments (e.g., Bomb Calorimetry, GC, ICP-OES, or SEM); and demonstrated ability to learn and apply new research techniques and protocols.
