Retail General Manager - Mount Pleasant, Sc

Sweet Julep's Fine Southern Confections and Candy is a family owned business located in Mount Pleasant, SC since 2002 and we're looking for a General Manager to lead our sweet shop! From pre-opening through daily operations.

This is a hands-on role. You'll work closely with our confectionery team while also leading the front-of-house team, managing employee scheduling, e-commerce and making sure every customer gets the Sweet Julep's experience.

What you'll do:

• Oversee daily operations including e-commerce, shipping, retail floor, inventory and team management
• Learn production of some of our key products (pralines, fudge & chocolates) using Sweet Julep's recipes and processes
• Handle e-commerce transactions, shipping, inquiries and reviews.
• Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members to build a high-performing retail staff.
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee orientation, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
• Coordinate social media marketing efforts and promotional activities to boost store visibility and sales growth.
• Manage inventory, vendor orders, and food cost/waste targets
• Maintain our 5-star rating across all review platforms, including e-commerce — customer experience is everything
• Maintain our strong corporate relationships and oversee catering & custom orders.
• Track and hit sales, labor, and food cost targets and report results to ownership
• Run occassional errands for store supplies

Expect to work 40-50 hours per week depending on season, including evenings and weekends.

What we're looking for:

• Comfortable working in a retail/production environment — you'll be trained on all Sweet Julep's products
• Proven management experience in retail environments with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong negotiation skills coupled with excellent communication abilities for team leadership and customer engagement.
• Proficiency in retail math, sales management, inventory control, and POS systems.
• Experience with e-commerce systems and coordinating online orders, packaging, and shipping is highly desirable.
• Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, training & development to foster a motivated team.
• Expertise in merchandising, pricing strategies, social media, marketing initiatives, and stock management.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
• Experience with employee scheduling, cash handling, and administrative tasks.
• Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork while managing store operations efficiently.
• Comfortable managing sales, labor, and food cost targets
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, store policies, and operational procedures while supervising shift management duties.
• Reliable, organized, and able to work opening shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed

Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000 annually depending on experience, including performance bonuses.
