We are seeking a Retail Product Specialist, Jetstar (JQ) for our business partnership with Jetstar Airways in Asia Pacific, on a fulltime permanent basis. This exciting role is responsible for supply and management of in flight equipment and retail products for the Jetstar Group.


The Retail Product Specialist will manage JQs In-Flight 'Buy on Board' (BoB) Retail Program, delivering innovation and business improvements, and continuously enhance profit performance and customer satisfaction for the partnership.


The role will also assist with the development of new products for all Jetstar group airlines and coordinate and execute tenders and contract processes.


What does a typical day look like?

We are looking for an experienced, service oriented and solutions focused individual. Each day may present a new challenge, so if you can think on your feet and be able to meet multiple stake holder requirements, this might be just for you. You may be working on a tender document for a supplier, training JQ teams on a new product offering or making a presentation about revenue opportunities. No two days are the same!


In a nutshell your main responsibilities are:

  • Strategic sourcing for inflight retail food, beverage and merchandise.
  • Provide market research, scope definition, tender document preparation, tender evaluation, scenario analysis, and cost negotiation.
  • Prepare JQ product presentations detailing expected margins and revenue impacts
  • Supplier performance management: analyse supplier performance, support supplier performance discussions, and create/develop strong relationships with suppliers
  • Maintaining the product menu grid document for all group airlines
  • Maintain master data in full for all retail products
  • Continuously review and resolve issues regarding quotations and pricing, ensuring best price, supply terms and lead-times are established for each product and supplier
  • Stakeholder engagement: exposure to Jetstar crew and Inflight Management team for product familiarisation and sales training
  • Identify cost savings opportunities for the business, with a focus on net margin improvement, and supply terms that favour dnata catering
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager, Jetstar in achieving divisional goals
  • Assist with the development of onboard menu and printing material

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Demonstrated success in a similar commercial and operational role
  • High level business to business (B2B) relationship management skills
  • Strong organisational and communications skills
  • Experience in product or category management and inventory (within aviation ideal)
  • Strategic focus and ability to present well written business cases
  • Ability to develop and oversee delivery of projects
  • Tertiary Education in Business or Finance (desired not compulsory)
