Retail Security Officer

We are currently seeking a professional, confident, and experienced Retail Security Officer to join our team. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with a strong background in retail security, excellent conflict management skills, and a proactive approach to preventing loss, loitering, and anti-social behaviour.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, customers, and property, while delivering a professional and visible security presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a strong and professional security presence on site
• Monitor premises to prevent theft, shoplifting, loitering, and anti-social behaviour
• Identify and respond quickly to suspicious activity
• Manage incidents calmly, effectively, and professionally
• Handle conflict situations using strong communication and de-escalation skills
• Carry out regular patrols of the store and surrounding areas
• Work closely with store management and staff to support day-to-day security needs
• Complete accurate incident reports and relevant documentation
• Ensure all security procedures are followed at all times
• Deliver excellent customer service while enforcing site policies

Ideal Candidate

• Previous retail security experience in a busy environment
• Strong experience dealing with shoplifting prevention, loitering, and conflict management
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• A professional appearance and approachable manner
• Strong understanding of customer service within a retail setting
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A reliable, punctual, and flexible attitude

Essential Requirements

• Valid PSA licence
• Previous experience in a retail security role
• Strong spoken and written English
• Good report writing skills
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required

Desirable

• Experience working in high-footfall retail stores
• Proven ability to reduce stock loss and deter theft
• First Aid / Safe Pass / other relevant certifications an advantage
