Are you passionate about energy efficiency, sustainable building solutions, and delivering technical excellence?

Encon is looking for a Retrofit Energy Engineer to join our growing team delivering high-quality residential retrofits across the East Coast of Ireland.

As a Retrofit Energy Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing, evaluating, and coordinating energy upgrades that improve home comfort and performance. Your work will directly contribute to national climate targets and Encon’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed retrofit surveys and act as the appointed PSDP within the company organasition for residential properties.
  • Design whole-house retrofit solutions, including insulation, ventilation, heating systems (e.g., heat pumps), and solar PV, in line with SEAI and NSAI standards.
  • Ensure all designs and specifications comply with:
  • NSAI SR54:2014
  • SEAI Code of Practice
  • Building Regulations (Part L, Part F)
  • Manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, sub-contractors, and assessors to deliver seamless project outcomes.
  • Contribute to post-assessment quality checks and snag inspections.
  • Prepare and review project design, variations, and reports with precision and clarity.

Requirements for this Role:

  • Level 8 Degree in Energy Engineering, Building Services, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
  • Proven knowledge of energy efficiency measures, building fabric upgrades, and heating systems.
  • Familiarity with DEAP (v3/v4) would be a benefit, however, not essiential.
  • Working knowledge of SEAI standards, and Irish building regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction health & safety legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage time independently.
  • Full driving licence.

Desirable:

  • BER Assessor qualification or strong DEAP proficiency.
  • Retrofit project coordination or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software, including Procore and LiveCosts.
