Position Overview

Pay range: $73,881.60 - $108,305.60 / year

Shifts: full-time

Job Description

To support the holistic care of the ventricular assist device (VAD) patient throughout the entirety of the therapy. To serve as an integral part of the medical team and be involved in a significant part of the patient s care including care and follow-up once the patient leaves the hospital. To ensure the post-implant patient is prepared for self-care prior to discharge. To see the patient in clinic, coordinate the patient s care in their home community and facilitate readmission for complications of device therapy. To train the patient s community first responder resources. To travel with the UAB critical care transport team to assist in safe transport of the VAD patient.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three (3) years of VAD, critical care, cardiovascular, cardiac surgical, or cardiac transplant nursing experience required. Prior experience with VAD preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
