Responsibilities:
Triages telephone calls from patient units, taking independent action and/or disseminating information to other areas of the main kitchen. Processes physician-ordered diet prescriptions for patients into the computer system. Enters patients¿ menu selections into the computer. Resolves discrepancies. Prints menus, tray assembly tickets, and reports, and distributes. Works within continual tight deadlines.SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED

Vary, Every Weekend/Every Holiday SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:NoneMACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:Multiple computer terminals and printers, telephones, pneumatic tube system and other related equipment.TYPICAL DUTIES:1.Interfaces with Nursing or other Food & Nutrition Services staff in person or via telephone to resolve patients¿ food service problems. Triages telephone calls from patient units, taking independent action and/or disseminating information to appropriate staff in a timely and courteous manner. Pages Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians as appropriate. Serves as an effective representative for Food & Nutrition Services department. 2.Interprets written diet orders from nursing units into the CBORD coding system. Enters patients¿ diet, tube feeding orders, and special feeding instructions into the CBORD system. Resolves data discrepancies through communication with patient unit staff.3.Prints, sorts and distributes diet sheets, selective menus, tallies and reports, meeting continual deadlines to assure timely service to noosing and patients.4.Corrects menu selection of designate patients using predetermined standards to assure (a) adherence to physicians¿ diet orders, (b) that food physically fits on the tray, (c) that appropriate accompaniments are ordered, and (d) that foods added to the menu are available. Enters food selections into the computer using a four-digit code. 5.Sends and receives information and supplies through the pneumatic tube system. Monitors receipt of patient unit supply requisitions and forwards to appropriate areas.6.Coordinates printing of tray assembly tickets to assure that there is a ticket for each patient and that packs of tickets for each patient unit meet the deadline for the tray assembly process.7.Runs and disseminates reports for use by Food & Nutrition Services management and Nutrition Support Service department.QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma with ability to do simple mathematics and understand, read, write, and speak English; experience with typing and 10-key pad entry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
