Te Whānau o Waipareira is seeking a Senior Counsellor - Te Aka Kawa with real-world experience supporting tāne in community settings. You’ll lead kaupapa Māori mental wellness work that bridges culture and clinical care, guiding whānau and empowering male healing.
Ngā Kawenga | What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead kaupapa Māori counselling focused on tāne and their wellbeing
- Manage clinical assessments and risk for whānau in distress
- Use Whānau Systems Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Sensory Modulation and other Māori-focused tools
- Mentor kaimahi and shape male-focused care pathways
- Collaborate with teams to create integrated cultural and clinical support plans
- Link tamariki and whānau with health, social, and cultural services
- Full HPCA, DAPAANZ, or Social Worker registration
- Proven experience as a senior counsellor, especially with tāne Māori
- Strong knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Tikanga, and kaupapa Māori clinical models
- Expert clinical judgement, leadership, and case management capability
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
- Lead male-focused kaupapa Māori mental wellbeing with confidence
- Professional and cultural growth through supervision & development
