Senior Software Architect

Join DNV Imatis: Shaping the Future of Healthcare

At DNV Imatis, we are dedicated to transforming healthcare by eliminating friction and empowering healthcare providers through innovative digital solutions. With over 30 years of experience and a rapidly expanding international presence, we are seeking a visionary and experienced Senior Software Architect to help us shape the next generation of healthcare technology.

Are you passionate about designing robust, scalable, and secure solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives? If so, we would love to hear from you!

Your Role as Senior Software Architect

As a key member of our Research & Development team, you will:

  • Lead the design and evolution of software architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to industry best practices for a large-scale, integrated healthcare technology solution.
  • Oversee the enhancement of current platforms by integrating security requirements at every stage of the software development lifecycle.
  • Document and communicate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, domain experts, and clinical advisors to ensure systems meet functional, architectural, and security requirements.
  • Evaluate and adopt modern technologies and architectural patterns, such as service-oriented, event-driven architectures and cloud-native solutions.
  • Ensure high quality, security, and performance through technical leadership, code reviews, and architectural assessments.
  • Contribute to strategic technology choices and roadmap planning in close cooperation with management.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and continuously improve development processes.
  • Work closely with the Security Architect to ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, FHIR).

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

  • At least 10 years of professional software development experience, including several years in architectural roles.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing complex, scalable software systems—ideally within healthcare, finance, or other regulated sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of modern development languages and frameworks (e.g., .NET, Node.js, React/Angular, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure/AWS).
  • Experience with ICT infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, and cloud services.
  • Experience with system integration (API design).
  • Solid understanding of security, privacy (GDPR), and secure-by-design principles.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring development teams and promoting best practices.
  • Experience producing clear architectural documentation and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English; Scandinavian language skills are an advantage.

Personal Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see both the big picture and the details.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to explore new technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resilience in tackling complex challenges.
  • Collaborative team player who builds trust and inspires others.
  • Deep empathy for end users—healthcare professionals and patients.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful role where your work directly contributes to safer and smarter healthcare.
  • Collaboration with passionate colleagues from Norway, the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, and Italy.
  • Modern office environments in Porsgrunn and Sandefjord, with flexible work arrangements.
  • The opportunity to influence technology choices and architecture in products that make a real difference.
  • Access to professional development, courses, and mentoring from leading experts.
  • An inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
