As part of continued growth, Shannon Transport Logistics & Warehousing is now seeking an experienced Senior Transport Manager to lead and optimise its large-scale transport operations from its Head Office in Limerick.

The Role

As Senior Transport Manager, you will have full strategic and operational responsibility for STL’s transport function, leading a high-performing team of 7 and managing a substantial mixed fleet operation supporting multiple international customer contracts. This is a critical leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on operational control in a fast-paced, high-compliance logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of transport professionals to ensure optimal fleet performance and service delivery.
• Drive maximum utilisation of STL’s in-house fleet while minimising reliance on third-party contractors where possible.
• Oversee route planning, scheduling, load optimisation and cost control to maximise operational efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with Irish and UK transport legislation, tachograph regulations, drivers’ hours, vehicle standards, and all relevant Health & Safety obligations.
• Act as a senior operational liaison with key multi-national client stakeholders, ensuring contractual KPIs and service levels are achieved and exceeded.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, safety, compliance and cost reduction.
• Own and continuously refine transport policies, procedures and best-practice standards.
• Manage transport budgets, fleet performance metrics and operational risk controls.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior transport management role within a large, complex logistics operation.
• Strong people leadership, performance management and team development capability.
• Detailed working knowledge of Irish and UK transport legislation, compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in fleet optimisation, route planning and cost control at scale.
• Commercially astute with experience managing budgets and delivering measurable cost efficiencies.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
