Shop Assistant/Cashier

A Shop Assistant, also known as a Sales or Retail Assistant, is responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling transactions, and maintaining the shop's appearance. They greet customers, answer questions, process payments, and assist with product selection. Additionally, Shop Assistants play a key role in stock management, ensuring shelves are well-stocked, and helping with deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:Greeting customers, answering inquiries, providing product information, and assisting with purchases.
• Sales Transactions:Processing payments (cash and card), handling refunds, and potentially promoting store cards or special offers.
• Stock Management:Replenishing shelves, rotating stock, organizing the stockroom, and assisting with deliveries.
• Maintaining Shop Standards:Keeping the shop floor tidy, arranging displays, and ensuring a welcoming environment for customers.
• Reporting and Communication:Reporting customer feedback, complaints, and stock issues to management.

• Communication Skills:Being able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues is crucial.
• Interpersonal Skills:Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with customers are important.
• Product Knowledge:Understanding the products sold is essential for assisting customers effectively.
• Problem-Solving Skills:Being able to handle customer complaints and resolve issues is necessary.
• Physical Stamina:Shop Assistants are often on their feet for extended periods and may need to lift and carry items.
• Technical Skills:Basic computer skills and the ability to use a cash register or POS system are often required.
