Shop Supervisor

Position Summary
Western States Rebar, a 100% Employee Owned Company is seeking an experienced Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our rebar fabrication shop. This role is responsible for managing production schedules, supervising shop personnel, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring orders are fabricated accurately and delivered on time.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, understands rebar or steel fabrication processes, and thrives in a fast-paced construction supply environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily shop operations including cutting, bending, bundling, and staging rebar orders
• Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet project deadlines
• Supervise shop employees, assign work, and monitor productivity
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
• Maintain quality control and verify fabricated materials meet shop drawings and specifications
• Coordinate with estimating, detailing, and dispatch teams
• Monitor inventory levels of rebar and shop supplies
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve workflow efficiency
• Train and mentor shop personnel
• Repair fabrication equipment when necessary
• Run fabrication machines when necessary

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in rebar fabrication, rebar install or fabrication of other steel products
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong understanding of rebar/steel cutting, bending, and fabrication processes
• Ability to read rebar drawings and schedules
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Knowledge of safety practices in a steel fabrication environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Rebar field experience
• Experience with rebar production software or scheduling systems
• Experience working with construction project teams
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
